Welcome! My name is Emily, a tattoo artist based out of Altar Tattoo in Calgary AB Canada. After studying at the Alberta College of Art and Design, I began tattooing in 2016 and since then have developed a style drawn from neo-traditional or illustrative works. Influenced by my love of the Baroque era, my current artistic style focuses largely on the female/ male figure, elements of nature/ plant life, animals, and all things ornate and vintage. I enjoy creating larger scale projects custom to each individual built off of a singular narrative, concept, lore, or myth.

I have a belief that the art of tattooing, a very ancient practice traced as far back as the Middle Kingdom period of ancient Egypt, is a sacred art form and allows us to communicate intimate parts of ourselves through a permanent piece of living art. As an artist it is my responsibility to help each client translate their concept into a custom work of art in a comfortable environment that allows for full freedom of expression. My aim is not just to create tattoos, but to pay homage to the roots of this craft and infuse my personal style with the ideas of each individual, bringing tattooing back to that place of sacred tradition.
